When I relocated to Lisbon, my friend Gin recommended that I meet Vilma, believing we would have a lot in common. Our paths finally crossed when she joined our previous event – Creative Soul. The Journey. It was during this encounter that we formed a deep connection, allowing me to discover a woman who, in my eyes, epitomizes femininity. Vilma possesses a delicate yet grounded nature, a sensitivity combined with strength, and an unwavering passion for all things beautiful. Wherever she goes, she creates a serene environment that inspires those around her.

In our bustling world, as women, we are natural nurturers, often tending to the needs of everyone around us while our own needs languish on the back burner. But here’s my truth for you today: self-care is not a treat to sprinkle into your calendar when you’re drained and depleted. It’s the necessary fuel to keep your unique flame burning brightly. It’s how we keep showing up as our best selves.
With that in mind, I’m inviting you on a self-care journey that I myself traverse daily or regularly. It’s not about grand gestures but rather cultivating small acts of self-love that compound over time into a reservoir of inner strength, vitality and joy.

1. Morning rituals – How you launch your day sets the tone. I savour this precious ‘me’ time with meditation, journaling, uplifting tunes, or an inspiring read. This invigorating start ignites a positive energy that carries me throughout the day.
2. Nourishing nutrition – As the old adage goes, you are what you eat. Feeding myself wholesome foods—fruits, veggies, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fats—feels like a delicious form of self-love. Bonus points if I’ve cooked it myself!
3. Movement – Physical activity is my non-negotiable. Whether it’s a brisk walk, Yoga, or my newfound love—Pilates reformer classes—finding a joyful way to move makes consistency a breeze.
4. Supportive connections – My tribe of girlfriends is a fountain of empowerment. Surrounding yourself with a network of like-minded women who uplift you is invaluable. And hey, there’s nothing like an aperitivo date after work, especially in Lisbon’s charming wine bars!
5. Spa day at home – Being a model might be glamourous, but it’s no friend to my skin and hair. So I indulge in home spa days weekly. My ritual involves treating my hair and skin with sustainable vielö products that infuse them with natural nourishment, coupled with a steaming cup of tea.
6. Take yourself on a date – There’s something magical about solitude. Spending quality time alone to reconnect, reflect, and delve deeper into my desires, dreams, and values fosters a robust sense of self-confidence and independence. Treating myself to a solo outing is a key practice in my self-care toolkit.
