I met Gin in a small coffee shop, in Porto, back in November 2020. From the first moment, I perceived her as vibrant, bubbly, social, and curious. And it turned out to be so. She is a mix between all these and many other qualities that I would discover along the way.

What always fascinated me in her is her ability to instantly connect (with) people, to maintain genuine connections even if she’s always on the move but maybe most of all, I admire her innate desire to discover more, to be ahead of her times, to come up with disruptive solutions. She’s my source of creativity, uniqueness, and innovation. But also, my authentic and honest friend whom I can always rely on.

Her story, in her own words, goes like this….

I wanted to be the best. Regardless of how, in which perspective and pace – being the best was the greatest goal. As a kid, I was ultimately competing with the others to get as much attention as possible. To prove I am special, unique, irreplaceable and my family shall be proud of me every nano second. And keep an eye on me, of course. Wink wink.

This experience brought me to the recreation of individual life and lifestyle pace to puzzle the routines, modes, and choices to establish and empower my true self. Not the desperate ‘forever better me’ hunter, – rather staying in sync and peace the way I am. Without being obsessive and living the highest highs and the lowest lows. I haven’t felt accomplished or full for a while until now.

Being uncertain, vulnerable, curious and a little confused is what trampolines us for some new trajectories. Staying fierce, energizing risks, choosing true you over the ego or fear. Listening – not only hearing. Writing a diary. Documenting and collecting. Curating your priorities, responsibilities, passions, and pleasures. Not giving a damn fuck on others projections but trusting your path, values, and development. Staying truthful, kind, empathetic and countable – makes it worth breathing, living, loving, contributing, empowering, and sharing.

Common sense, awareness of the environment, its changes, growth, attachments, or opposites drives it further. Not the full speed – as not looking for this – but organically naturally and systematically. It is closely related with having the eyes and ears open for the discussions, anticipation of being a student for the lifetime and taking the given or caught moments to learn. We are never accomplished fully, but the process of getting there is what gives the substantial sense of being enough in your own defined terms.

Since Gin is a vivid reader, I asked her which book she recommends to “prolong the summer feeling”. This is her recommendation:
